North side of Samos

On the northeast side of the island of Samos, sits the city of Samos, the island’s capital. A small picturesque road links the present day port to Vathi, the old traditional settlement. The archeological museum of Byzantine Art as well as the famous produced “Sweet Samian wine”, are all worth visiting.

In the northern part of the island of Samos, 10 kilometers from the capital and nestled between two small protective capes that captivate the eye is Kokkari, the most picturesque and touristic village of Samos. Wonderful taverns and sensational clubs all make Kokkari the liveliest and most exciting place of the island. This is also where surfing lovers can catch a wave.

Extending imposingly on the northwestern side of the island of Samos and surround by verdant villages abound in luxuriant vegetation and beaches with the clearest of waters, sits Karlovassi, the second largest city of the island. The Mathematical school of the University of the Aegean is located in a unique neoclassical building in town.

South side of Samos

On the southeastern side of the island and on the location of the ancient city of Samos, lies Pythagorio. The majestic and imposing mouth Kerkis (1440m) with its wild beauty, its caves and extraordinary variety of flora and fauna, is the perfect place of hiking. The mountainous mass of Kerkis, with dozens of caves (more than 67 have been found) and an area stretching from the river to Mikro and Megalo Seitani makes up a giant ecological park.
